This expedition is incredibly special, not only because of the marine life you will swim with or the beautiful island you’ll get to explore, but because you will do it with an intimate group of like-minded people and share the oceans most precious and joyous moments.
Staying in a luxurious and modern lagoon-front villa, our privately chartered, purpose built boat will pick us up from the beach in our villa’s back yard on the days we are heading past the outer reef for oceanic marine encounters. We will endeavour to locate and ethically swim with humpback whales, pilot whales, rough-toothed dolphins, oceanic white-tip sharks, white-tip reef sharks and other species that may appear. Our mission is to let the marine-life approach us, creating a safe environment for our swimmers and for the marine life. We will never chase, harass or force encounters.
Plus, you’ll get to play with the iconic friendly stingrays and join guided snorkels in the shallow, coral filled, turquoise lagoon available in our backyard.
This experience is limited to 10 guests maximum with 2 experienced Diving in Paradise expedition leaders.

While this expedition is designed for anyone with a passion for the ocean and adventure. It also provides a unique opportunity for university students studying in Marine Biology, Animal Ecology, Environmental Science or Tourism to develop practical, real-world skills.
If you're interested, Taylor is happy to share her knowledge and teach students the fundamentals of snorkel guiding while providing insight into the marine tourism industry. Throughout the expedition, you'll also have the opportunity to build skills in:
Snorkel guiding techniques and guest safety
PADI Basic Freediver certification (optional)
Open ocean swimming and water confidence
Whale spotting and cetacean identification
Whale biology and behaviour
Shark behaviour and ecology
Responsible ecotourism and wildlife interactions
It's a fantastic opportunity to gain practical field experience, strengthen your résumé and learn from an Olympian, Animal Ecologist and experienced snorkel guide, while enjoying an unforgettable adventure in one of the world's most spectacular marine environments.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, guests should:
✔️ Be confident snorkelling (using a mask, snorkel, and fins).
✔️ Be able to pull themselves into the boat (steps and ladders are available).
✔️ Be comfortable in the open ocean, where the seafloor may not be visible and swell may be present.
✔️ Have a sense of adventure, fun, and bring good vibes!
✔️ Respect the island, its culture, and follow all rules and regulations.
✔️ Wear a 3mm springsuit (minimum) for flotation when swimming with whales.
(If deep water makes you a little nervous, don’t worry! You'll have access to flotation devices and two experienced safety guides. Plus, once you see a whale in the water, any fears of the deep completely disappear—trust us!)
Diving in Paradise Staff For This Expedition:
Taylor has been whale swimming since 2016 and snorkel guiding since 2017. Her experience in the water is extensive, having competed for Australia in swimming from 2010 to 2022, winning medals at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships.
Taylor’s freediving journey began in 2017, and in 2021, she became a PADI Advanced Freediving Instructor. Beyond her skills in the water, Taylor holds a degree in Animal Ecology, and through her experiences, has a wealth of knowledge in marine life, conservation, and marine animal behaviour. Her deep understanding of the ocean, combined with her swimming and freediving background, makes her an exceptional guide for unforgettable marine life encounters.
Daniel grew up around the ocean, having spent his life between Norfolk Island and New Caledonia - where he learned to speak French. He is a qualified skipper, experienced snorkel guide, advanced freediver and has been assisting on our expedition over the past 3 years. Daniel is our go-to MVP who is always willing to assist in any way, whether it be French translation, taxiing, snorkel guiding or heavy lifting (literally). He is an excellent addition to the Diving in Paradise team and we are stoked to have him.
